Greek Salad

A lot of people asked how to make this salad at the baby shower I hosted on Saturday. My sister is the one who came up with the recipe, but I an happy to share it. And it's so easy.

For the salad part:
-Romaine lettuce
-Feta Cheese
-Crasins
-Croutons
-pepperoncini

Now for the dressing. It's not an exact, rather an eyeballing process. I'll give you approximately how much I use. You can add more or less of any ingredient until you get it the way you like it.

Ok so here is the real flavor:

It's all purpose Greek seasoning, I get it at World Market, but I've seen it at the grocery store in a smaller more expensive package. I would say I use about 1/4 cup of this, at least.

-Then add an equal amount of grated Parmesan cheese
-A couple cloves of garlic pressed or minced
-Vegetable oil, I pretty much pour it to the top of the dressing container. Vegetable oil works better because it won't solidify as
quickly as olive oil.
-And last Balsamic vinegar to taste.

Okay so I haven't posted in FOREVER. And a lot of my family has asked me to do so. But I get busy and pretty much share our photos/videos on Facebook and forget about my blog. But that's not to say that I don't read other blogs. In fact I love to read blogs. My friend Letti is doing a giveaway on her blog. It's for scentsy warmer and scent of choice. If you have not heard of it you are not alone. I just discovered it around Christmas time. But now I see it EVERYWHERE. I've wanted one for sometime, which brings me to my post. First Day

So today was the official first day of kindergarten. It was so much fun. Logan was excited, but also really cool about everything. He didn't make a big deal of it at all. It was almost like he's done it before! That's why I would say preschool is SOOOO important he's a seasoned school boy already! We took lots of pictures. I think he was actually embarrassed that we were taking so many pictures. Kids are so funny. I already LOVE this school! I'm SO happy that we get to go to Mariposa. The people are so friendly and you get that small home town feeling. I also like that the parents are eager to help with the kids classes and that the principal was outside and shaking our hands before we got through the gates. It really was great! I'm really excited to begin this journey. For me I have a lot of great school memories and I feel like childhood really starts with school! Ok enough here are some pics...

Campland

We just got back from Campland yesterday. The kids had a great time. My favorite thing to do is ride bikes and it's so much fun now that Logan likes to ride his big boy bike. This was our last trip before Logan starts school on Wednesday. It's bittersweet because no longer will we have the luxury to pick up and go as we please, but on the other hand I'm so excited for him to start school! Be on the watch because soon I will be posting his first day of school photos!

Brooklyn is Potty Trained!

Woo hoo! I have to toot my own whistle a bit here. Brooklyn is now potty trained after only a few days! It was so easy, just like Logan. She was ready and that was that. I said no more diapers and got some underwear and it was simple as that. I think that since she understands the concept it makes things that much easier! YAY for no more diapers!

This next picture I just had to get in. Last week the kids were both sick with a strange fever. Logan wanted to be next to me while I worked out, so he climbed up on this step and feel asleep! Kids can fall asleep in the funniest places!

Today my little man graduated Preschool. It was really such an adorable ceremony. The kids sang a lot of cute songs. Then the pastor of the church presented each child with a little diploma like certificate. All the parents brought a few dozen cookies and such, there was a great selection of yummies after the presentation! I think Logan took 7 different cookies (he only ate one). Then we went out to the garden area where the parents took pictures and the kids ran around. We thought it was going to be a small little get together. I would say there were 75 people there in all, if not more! Here are a few pictures.

Over the last 3 days Rick and I have been working on a little garden project. Ok well like all things it ended up pretty hard but it was so worth it! I like to call it my little serenity garden or zen garden. I don't know if we'll get fish. I know the kids would love it but we have lots of animals in our neighborhood and I think they will eat the fish. The only thing we have to do now is build some shade over it. I don't know what exactly Rick has planned for that but I do know it will have a bamboo roof!

{Stress}

Now that Logan is 5 there is a whole new can of worms that has opened. Logan's dad wants to fly him up to San Francisco to visit. Maybe I'm taking this too far, but my heart is aching over this. And this is the only reason I didn't want Logan's 5Th bday to roll around. There have definitely been challenges with our "situation" but all and all things have been smooth and I feel pretty lucky. I cannot tell you the stress I have about putting my child on an airplane without me or anyone that I trust and know for that matter. To make things worse Logan is terrified of flying alone and no matter what I say, offer or do I cannot ease his fears. I keep picturing him on the airplane while it takes off alone and crying and it makes me cry! Am I wrong to think he is too young for this? Or that since he doesn't want to he shouldn't have too? His dad seems to think so and completely plans on making this happen. He says "Logan needs to get used to it" Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know, but this has been bothering me so much. I guess this is something that comes with the "territory" but I needed to sorta journal it to maybe feel better because at this point I'm scared and am thinking that when the times comes I will just buy a ticket and fly with him?

{Logan's 5th Birthday}

Thanks to everyone who helped make Logan's 5th birthday so fun ad memorable. He had such a great day. The night before Rick and I decorated the house so when he woke up he had a nice surprise. HE couldn't wait for his friends to get here and swim with him. The day went pretty smoothly considering Logan seemed to have his own little timeline. We BBQ'd, then Logan wanted to do his pinata. We let him go first and he tore that thing apart on the first try! Some of the other kids were disappointed they didn't get a turn. After that he opened his presents, had cake and ice cream, played some more then back in the pool! I was so tired at the end of the day. But it was a birthday success. I cannot believe my little boy is 5! WOW when I get the pictures off of the ig camera I'll post more later...

{My Mother's Day Disaster!}

Ok so to set things straight I want to say thank you for the card and money from my wonderful hubby and kiddos. Even though Logan wanted to see what would happen when he put the card in the gutter outside, I still am very happy with my gift. But I would like to share what this day has been like and it's only 3 p.m.! First I start the morning washing the cars. I like my car clean and this is just something Rick doesn't do, which is fine, but you know it's mother's day! After Rick leaves to work I see that he leaves his cell here. So the kids and I get in the car to take it to him at work. I get there and forgot the phone. Wasted trip. Then I decide that since I have not been feeling well for a week I need to have this bladder infection checked out before we go camping. Go to Urgent Care with two small kids and get medicine. It was actually only and hour ordeal. After that we went grocery shopping. I'm sure all mom's want to grocery shop on Mother's day right? :-) Get home start some laundry. Logan informs me there is some kind of poop on the guest bed. Check it out and decide it does look weird, but not like poop. Decide to take bedding off to wash it. While removing quilt giant LIZARD pops off the bed onto the floor! So gross, I know. Can you believe that? I trapped the thing and it got away. Call husband who informs me it is good to have a lizard in the house! Are you kidding me? I can deal with the bugs myself I do not need a lizard for that problem. So now I am pretty much scoping out the door waiting for the little sucker to come out. This has been, to say the least, a very interesting mother's day. If not funny too!

Right around Christmas time I decided that I really do not love to sew! Patience has never been a virtue of mine and as most of you sewers know you have to have a lot of patience to finish a project! Well I pulled out the machine today to make a blanket for my mom's friend. Her baby's room is going to be a pirate theme (she got the stuff at Target and it's really cute) This is what I came up with. It makes me mad for a number of reasons, but at least those reasons are hidden on the inside of the blanket ;-)

And this is something Amelia helped me with right around Halloween when we visited...this was a lot more fun. I actually like making these!

We had Easter at our house. This is my favorite holiday to host! This year we did a family breakfast complete with french toast casserole, breakfast burritos and mimosas! It was delicious and the start of a new tradition. The kids loved their baskets from the Easter bunny and really enjoyed the egg hunt in the yard.

For our house that is! We've been going through some changes here over the last month. Our home has received a major facelift. We had the siding replaced, the whole house painted, added some new landscaping and of course I added some decorative touches. A new roof next year and this place is golden. It was really fun having a vision for the exterior and seeing it come together. I forgot to take after pictures, I'll have to find some from before, but if you've been here you know the difference!

Yep that's right it's spring and I love it! I have to admit that there are a lot of times during the summer that I am hating living in the inland empire, but you can't beat spring here. The weather is wonderful, perfect and it smells amazing at my house thanks to the orange blossoms. But here's my favorite part, my men in blue are back! Yep that's right "It's time for Dodgers baseball!" Rick and Logan went to opening day today and I will say I was jealous I couldn't go, but they had a great time and that's all that matters.

No Bake Cookies!

I'm sure you all remember these. They are my mom's favorite and after talking about them yesterday I gave it a whirl. If you love something yummy and easy these are for you. It takes maybe 10 mins! Here's the recipe:

2 cups white sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup peanut butter
3 cups rolled oats
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup powdered chocolate drink mix

DIRECTIONS
In a medium saucepan, over medium heat, combine the sugar, salt, butter and milk. Bring to a boil, then boil for 1 full minute. Remove from heat and stir in the peanut butter, oats, vanilla and chocolate drink mix. Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper. Let stand until completely cool.

So for Christmas this year I asked for a piano. Just an old used piano nothing fancy. At one point I was learning how to play and I just stopped, so I would like to learn again. Turns out Brooklyn love it too. Over the weekend we went to our annual family, girls tea party. It's a pretty fancy fun day! I'm looking forward to hosting my own tea party for some of my favorite girls in the spring, look out for an invite...anyway at the tea Brooklyn was loving my aunts piano. I'm so excited! I've finally applied to Cal State! I've put it off for along time now. Since I got pregnant with Brooklyn to be exact. I have one class to finish up this spring that I will be taking at Crafton. Hopefully by fall 2009 I will officially be a junior at Cal state. I'm pretty excited because I finally feel like I'm doing this for myself and I feel ready to finish up. I put in a lot of hard work to get here. Working full time supporting myself and going to school full time too. I deserve and owe it to myself to finish. And I just want to be an example for my kids. Pretty much everything we do is for them right? Woo Hoo!

Well it's been almost a week since Logan got his new glasses. He has actually really taken to them. I think he likes them a lot because everyone tells him how cool they are. And I would have to agree they are cool! I'm still concerned because they are REALLY blurry to look thru. He doesn't have any vision problem so I don't quite understand how he can possibly see with them. Maybe his eyes have adjusted? Typically when a child has a strabismus they only put a prism in one eye, his have both. So waiting for the doc to get back in town to get some answers. Otherwise my glasses were kinda a waste! He asked me to wear them for 2 days then he was over it! Not completely a waste as I do need new glasses, so I guess I can just go and get my prescription put in these new ones. Hope you all had a great holiday! We sure did!

{If I can't be the glue can somebody hold me together?}

Yesterday was a big day for Logan and I. We went to the Optimologist. And for the first time as a mother I felt true guilt. Not the kind that you feel when you give a spanking and feel a little bad afterwards, the real kind. The kind that because of me it's possible he could have issues with his eye forever. I'm sure like Rick most of you think I'm being hard on myself, but as a mother I can't help but feel responsible. Here's the story: About a year ago we noticed Logan crossed his eyes a lot. I happened mostly when we wanted him to smile for a picture. We thought he was making a funny face at us. But I think I was in denial that he really had a problem. It was pretty noticeable. Fast forward to now. He still does this but it has gotten better. So at his ped check up I had him take a look and he refereed us to the eye doctor. That leaves us at yesterday. Turns out he has Accommodative esotropia. It's an outward turing eye, that happens when the child is trying to focus on far away objects and occurs mostly when they are daydreaming, tired or ill. That's why it's only sometimes noticeable. Here's where I come in. Since I waited to bring him in it may be harder to correct the muscles that may be permanently damaged. He was told yesterday that the first step is he needs to wear glasses. He was SO upset. His reaction made me heart break. I wanted to cry, but had to make it a no big deal situation. And I know it's not that big of a deal. It's really common and worst case scenario is surgery (which is a mild one at that) But Logan is really taking this hard. I feel awful. I know that I could not change the fact that he has this, but maybe if I got him in one year ago well...We do think it has gotten better so hopefully with the glasses it will help that much more. Here's the thing, He'll hate them because they will not help his vision, in fact the Dr. said he will most likely complain that he sees worse in them. So how do I concince my 4 year old that he needs to wear them?

Experience of a Lifetime!

Yesterday I had the most amazing experience. My best friend Sarah and I got to be in a movie! Our friend(more so Sarah's friend I met him through her) wrote this exciting movie and is now directing and filming it. he called her and asked if we wanted to come to Hollywood and be extras. Of course we said yes! We get there and they say that they need someone to play the bartender for this specific bar scene, yep you guessed it I was the official bartender! Here's the best part, the star of the movie is Cam Gigandet. You may not know him but he is the vampire James in the up coming Twilight movie. If you know me you know I am obsessed with Twilight so how exciting is that! He was really nice and kinda shy. The leading woman in the film is Jenna Malone. You may know her as the young girl in the movie "Step mom" with Julia Roberts. She was not there yesterday. So this is pretty much an indi film, but hopefully it comes out in the next year! Let me just tell you yesterday made my week! If not year hee hee. Dork!!! Here's a pic of Cam:

{My Baby is 2 Today!}

I can't believe 2 years have gone by since Brooklyn came into our lives. On the other hand she has been such an amazing addition to our family, I cannot imagine life without her! She is such a blessing! I remember her birth like it was yesterday. It was such an easy labor. She gave me no problems. Having her made us feel like giving birth was the easiest thing ever. We went home from the hospital in less than 24 hrs. We we came home Logan was so excited. He was only 6 months older than she is today. He made all these cute noises, cuddling and cooing to her. I remember thinking how lucky I was at that moment. Today I still feel so lucky to have such a beautiful. healthy family. Here's a few pictures of Brooklyn this year. One at birth, 6 months, one year and then a recent. I think Brooklyn will like that she will never have school on her bday, she was born on Veteran's day! Happy Birthday sweet girl!

Okay Amelia you tagged me so I'll play along and post some random things about me.

1. I played field Hockey in High School

2. I HAD to sleep with my baby blanket until I was 21 years old! Yes I know crazy huh? I still have it too. And then if that wasn't weird enough I loved the way it smelled so much I would put a specific corner into my nose and smell it all night. YUCK I know I'm strange!

3. I'm actually a pretty liberal person even though I surround myself with the opposite. I'm a little bit of a bleeding heart.

4. I LOVE eating Slim JIm's. Rick makes fun of me and I think they delicious oh and hey I really don't like meat!

5. I downloaded "Are you Smarter than a 5th grader" on my phone and I have to admit I am not. Have not beat it yet, alone.

6. I'm not good at math. I can get A+ in everything else and managed to graduate with an 3.8 or something, but really I can barely add!!! h And I do not know the multiplication table hee hee

7. It drives me bananas when my kids have boogers and other people's kids for that matter.

Rick and I went to one of the playoff games last night and let me just say the "feeling" was amazing. The crowd was pumped and the stadium was a sea of white towels flying in the air. What a fun game! Although the Dodger's lost, it was really close and so exciting. I know most of you are Angel's fans, but hey during the NLCS how can you not cast your vote for the Dodger's?! We still have a chance at the world series, but we would have to win the next 3 games. Hey it could happen. In that case we're going to a world series game! What a great xmas gift that would be! And the highlight of the night? I got a Manny ball during batting practice!

Here's my little model again showing off my latest creation. I usually have to bribe him with candy and then he will gladly model for me! These little aprons are made from oil cloth material, with a little piece of chalkboard fabric at the top. Yes you can really write with chalk on that material! I was waiting to post because the very first one I made was for Kendall, Jessica's baby girl. I'm getting better at them and hopefully will have a few worthy to sell at letti's' boutique. We went to campland again over last week and had so much fun. It was pretty empty there this time ofthe year and also really cheap. So we got a grassy spot on the beach and enjoyed the San Diego weather I miss so much, except it was in the 90's!!! What the heck! Then we went to seaworld and overall had a great week. Came home Saturday, that place still gets full on the weekends. I haven't been posting much lately, just busier than normal. But I have been doing crafty projects! I can't wait to post what I've been making. But I need to wait until after Saturday, I don't want to ruin any surprises!

Logan got bitten by the goal bug yesterday at his soccer game! Our team was down 3 points when Logan scored his first goal. I think he was so excited and loved the feeling so much he couldn't stop. He scored 2 more times after that for a total of 3! We won 5-4. I know we are not supposed to keep track but I was so excited for my little boy. He's such a good player and has almost made several goals (too bad we have goalies here Amelia ha ha) You should have seen the look of triumph on his face. He kept waving his fists up in the air like saying "yes I did it" to himself. So so cute. We were so proud. A feeling you can't even explain. Anyway of course it was the one game I forgot the camera or video camera. Bad mom (slap on the wrist!)

Ok so maybe that statement isn't entirely true but parents are allowed to be biased, right? In my defense I have to say there are not many of the 4 year olds who are as motivated as him! He LOVES playing. If he has to sit out for a quarter he's angry. For a four year old he's the most aggressive on his team and competitive too. Not sure if that's good, but it really is the cutest thing when the other team scores and he looks at me and says "boo mamma" giving a thumbs down signal (it's very discrete ha!) Ok so they don't keep score at this age, and probably he shouldn't be such a bad sport, but who wants to crush his DRIVEN personality? NOT ME!!! haa haa

Today marks the 7th anniversary of September 11th, a devastating attack on our homeland our Country. I remember this day like it was yesterday. I was getting up to get ready for classes and like any normal day (before kids) I flipped on the news. I couldn't believe my eyes. What I thought was an accidental crash, turned in to being a HORRIFIC day, that will always be etched in the minds of Americans who were watching or sadly lost a friend or family member. As I watched the news I saw things that I will never forget. People tumbling/ jumping from windows, people running the streets, blackness etc. It was horrible. Most businesses and schools closed. Our nation had been attacked, it was not plausible. Now, seven years later, I like to remember why we are fighting for our freedom and put so many lives in harms way to do so. And for me, even though I may not agree on reasons for War, I do appreciate the men and women who do. Who are risking their lives so that nothing like 9/11 happens again. Thank God for these people and take a moment to remember the innocent people who lost their lives this day 7 years ago.

Deceptively Delicious?

Have you heard of this book or own it even? A friend was telling me his wife checked it out at the library and they love it. Written by Jerry Seinfeld's wife, it's all about cooking with puree vegetables so it tastes the same if not better and your kids won't even notice. I think I might get it, sounds good to me. My kids really do like veggies, we all do here. But why not sneak more nutrients into our foods, especially if it tastes great? I don't think it's a great alternative if you kids refuse to eat vegetables, only because if you have to sneak them in will they ever learn healthy eating habits? But whichever way I think about it I think it sounds like a healthy no harm there approach. What do you think? Anyone have it yet?

It's the day I finally (hopefully) get fixed. I'm having a small surgery to "see" what's going on and hopefully fix it. How nice it would be to not get UTI's all the time. Funny thing is aside from the flu, I've felt great lately! But still I'm a little nervous. Anytime a hospital and anesthesia are involved it makes a person nervous, right? It's an in and out thing so I'll be home in the afternoon, but they said I would be sleepy all day. I guess the silver lining (as Amelia would say) is that I get to sleep the day away. Most of you moms know what a fantasy that is! I'll be back Wednesday for an update and what the Dr. finds.

Let me start by saying that is not a picture of something I made, rather a picture I found and am going to make. Some kids will eat anything, mine are not those kids. It's a battle to get my kids to eat much more than a few items, McDonald's being in the top 10! So I am constantly looking for ideas to make foods fun. Today I tried the lady bug apples. They were a hit with Logan. He said "Mommy I do like apples" and ate the whole thing. So I found a few more recipes, one is the above pictured and another was blue jello cups with gummy fish in them. I want to find healthy snacks though, so if anyone has a fun healthy snack tip let me know! I have done the different snacks in the cupcake tin, that was fun, but they still only picked around the stuff they liked. So any suggestions? BTW- I can't wait to get my family fun mag cuz it has a ton of great food tips!

Well I painted a wall in the family room a pretty light blue and painted the kids bathroom. I love the changes I made. Sometimes a little paint makes a huge difference. It really brought out the colors I have accenting the house. The kids bath was so blah. I wanted a brighter room and always want to use yellow, so why not? And we had chocolate pizza which was a huge hit! And easy to make. Got it off that Flip Flop applesauce blog.

Today was Logan's first soccer game ever! I have to start off first by saying that I am so proud of him. He was such a great player! He wanted to play the whole time, even when he had to sit out he wanted in. And the whole time he kept with the ball trying to score. At this age they don't keep score, but let me say we got KILLED by the other team. There were some big kids out there! I wanted to ask for birth certificates ha ha. But more than anything I'm glad he liked it and I hope he continues to have an interest to play. Rick took some great pictures with his fancy camera, I'll post those later. For now here's a bit of an action shot =-)

After talking books today I remembered one of my all time favs. This book is actually being made into a movie with Brad Pitt as the producer. One of the main characters is going to be played by Rachel McAdams (the girl from the notebook and wedding crashers) Anyway this book is a page turner! I would recommend it to anybody. Rick read it and liked it too. Here's the premise:

The love story of Henry and Claire whose lives are punctuated by Henry's disappearance to different points in time--sometimes even back to visit Claire as a young woman. When Henry meets Claire, he is twenty-eight, and she is twenty. He's a hip, handsome librarian; she is an art student with Botticelli hair. Ok so the night before last and yesterday Logan had this weird fever of 102. There didn't seem to be anything else wrong, he was just kinda no himself. I don't know about you but I feel bad when my kids are sick, but on the other hand it's kinda nice when they are so calm and sweet. That brings me to today. Both kids woke up extremely grumpy! Logan was crying for no reason, so I made him stay in his room for awhile while I got Brooklyn situated (who soaked through her diaper onto my sheets ugh) Then when I went to get Logan he decided to pee on his floor! Yes pee! That made me pretty upset. To top it off I found a hole in our newer grass that the dog dug! Oh man what a morning. I can't wait for today to either get better or be over, because I am really looking forward to opening ceremonies tomorrow! Ha and look it's only 8:30!

What's up with the Olympics?

Is it normal to have this many issues with the Olympics? I don't really know. But it seems that everyday I read the news it's a new issue in China. From not letting people compete because of some silly smog protecting mask, to a little girl not cute enough to sing her new song and today allegidly China has let some underage girls compete? Personally I can't see why we held the Olympics in China, except maybe to make the country that produces most of our goods happy. It seems to me that there have been a lot of China related problems already? What do you think? Maybe it's normal?

So tonight after her bath Brooklyn said "Doop mama, diaper" Which means Poop I want a diaper. After I confirmed this I figured "Hey this kid is ready for the potty, I mean she told me to put a diaper on her for heavens sake!" So I took her to the bathroom and put Logan's old spongebob seat on the toilet and "tried" to put her on it. I could've been more like forcing, just depends if you were looking at it from my view or Rick's view from the door. Although I'm sure the shrieking is what lured him upstairs to begin with. After seeing all of your kiddos on the potty, with big boy underwear, I thought she was ready, but I was grossly wrong! Anyway I googled "potty training" and I found some interesting things. Here are a few. And one picture of what I can assume Brooklyn thinks is going to get her when she sits on the toilet!

Breaking Dawn Review

Let me first start by saying there are NO SPOLIERS here. I did enjoy the book, it only took me 2 days to read the 750 page beast! There are a lot of people who did not like it. I'm sorta ambivilent on the matter. I liked the book OK because I love the other 3 books and I couldn't wait to read what happens next, but this book IMO did not fit into the other 3 sagas. Please someone go and read it so we can talk. THere are a lot of things that I didn't like and kinda ruined the innocent Bella and Edward love story. I will say this. If you have a teenage daughter reading this series (the book says 12 and up) I would stop her from reading Breaking Dawn. I do not think it's appropraite for a 12 year old! This book is much more mature than the previous 3. So go and do me a favor and read it, so we can talk about it! I want to know what you think.

We went to Campland on the bay (San Diego) over the weekend. That's pretty much why I've been absent. That along with all the laundry and cleaning to do when we got back ugh! Sunday at the Dodger game a woman approached Logan and Rick in the stands. She said they had been selected to do the coke trivia question on the field after the 7th inning stretch. How cool is that! So we got to go to the press box and they went on the field and did the question. I took pics of course. We won 4 tickets to Universal Studios! What a cool and lucky experience!!! Oh and the Dodgers killed the Nationals. GO DODGERS!!!

Well it went pretty well all things considered. They had to do some extra x-rays on my left side because it didn't seems to be "working" right. That is my bladder was not cooperating not the x-ray machine. SO I guess I just wait till my next appointment August 12th to get any real answers or solutions. I kinda think that the problem they were having getting the picture is the real problem, but at least I'm on the road to answers. I'll keep ya posted of course. And for those who called, sorry I haven't gotten back, but my mom was with me and we had breakfast and after that Rick and I were busy all day getting ready to go camping this weekend. I'll call you soon!

{IVP TEST}

So tomorrow I go in for this test called an IVP. Basically they shoot some iodine into your vein through an IV and then take x-rays to see how the kidneys, bladder and other various parts are working. When I was Logan's age I had a major surgery because my right Ureter(the tube urine travels from) was in the wrong place and not working correctly. They told us I would forever have issues. So here I am. I get UTI's all the time and recently, like the last 3-4 months I have had a never ending UTI. It won't go away, so we are going to look for some other possible causes. That leads to tomorrow. Anyway no big deal, just thought I would share, it's kinda interesting. Oh and yeah maybe keep me in your prayers that they DON"T find something serious! Here's what it looks like... except for the dude hee hee

Ever since I've had a girl it's been so much fun to get dolls again. I feel like a little girl every time Brooklyn gets a doll. Sometimes I even buy her a doll she doesn't care for, for my own selfish reasons ;-) But this doll in particular has to be one of my favorites. Rick's mom came home with this doll she got at FAO in Vegas. Brooklyn loves it! She likes tiny dolls like this one. How cute is it? It turns into a little purse or bassinet. She's called Penelope Peapod and after a little research I found she was co-created by one of the Kate Spade designers. If you're really crafty and know who to knit (I do but don't see myself doing this one) you can go to the site and there are directions how to make your own Penelope Peapod!

In hopes of getting Logan excited to play soccer this year, we went out and got him is shin guards and cleats. He was actually really excited to wear them. We went outside and kicked the ball around and guess what? He's really good. He can dribble the ball and kick it into thew goal and he can even get past me! He even got the ball from me once. So even though he says he doesn't want to play I think when he gets his uniform he'll be happy. By the way, the shirt he's wearing in the picture is Rick's when he was 4. After 5 long well (actually they were kinda short) days we're home. The only reason I say long was well I was totally ready to come home to the kids! I missed them a lot. Rick and I had a great time though. New York was and wasn't what I expected. A lot of the stereotype are not true, people are very nice, fashion isn't like Sex and the City and the traffic wasn't any worse than here. But then a lot of things were just as I expected. The subway is just like in the movies, but cleaner. There are a ton of people walking at any given time, taxi cab rides are CRAZY, most of the city is always awake and the sights are amazing. All and all I loved it there, but would not live there (unless we had a ton of money) and was pretty grateful for our lives here in Cali. I think once a cali girl always a cali girl. The food was pretty good when we had time to eat, portions are huge! We must have walked 6 miles a day. Unless you go to SOHO shopping is the same and even there it's pretty much the same stuff as here. Well except the handbags, which well that's a whole other story/experience! So here are some pictures, I could go on for awhile. Just some of the things we did. Yankee game (my favorite part), central park, statue of liberty, empire state building, times square etc. these are just a few! Enjoy I'll post more later...

Yesterday we took the kids to Knott's Soak City. We had so much fun! I might have had more fun than the kids! Logan loved it. He was going all day. Just rent a raft and that kid is set. Brooklyn took a little while to warm up but by then end of the day she didn't want to leave. We got season passes since it's only 30 mins away. Anyone want to join us next time?

Today is one of those days where I want to pull my hair our! Yep that's right I'd rather be balled than relive this day! First it started off with a little trip to Kohl's. Brooklyn screamed the ENTIRE time. People probably thought she was getting beat in the dressing room. If that wasn't enough I went to a few other stores, which got better after I bought some candy to bribe them with. I got home and let the dog in who immediately peed on the carpet. After cleaning that up I went into check on the kids and Logan got a hold of some scissors and decided to cut up some of my fabric, trim and my very favorite SILK table runner! I was at my wits end. When I picked up the scissors I even though about jamming them into myself for a split second! (I'm not crazy or unfit or anything, but really it was just a split second thought! ha ha) After I got the kids down for a much needed nap AKA mommy time, I went to open a package of candy and it spilled out the bottom everywhere! It's 4:19 p.m and I wonder if it can get much worse. I think I might lose my voice by days end!

Camping at Vail Lake

We took our new trailer out for the first time with the Norris, Yorgesen and Bowler families a few days ago, it was so much fun! Vail Lakes was interesting, if there was a lake there you wouldn't know it. It was quite and peaceful and perfect for all the kids. Since we were all there together it was even better. I had a great time with everybody! And the best part is I loved camping with the trailer. That makes me happy!

Here's our newest addition! HIs name is Cashis "Cash" He's a full breed boxer puppy just 9 weeks old. The kids are doing well with him, surprisingly Logan seems to like him more. If you didn't know it was Brooklyn who liked dogs and Logan who was scared. He's a boxer so he's a little hyper and jumpy, we try to let them know that's just how he says hello. Last night was his first night here and he slept all night in his crate without a peep! I couldn't be more thrilled. Now if he'll just pee outside instead of on my rugs! We think he's adorable and couldn't be happier. This is all new to me since I haven't had a puppy before, so we can all get used to him together.

Yep we have them. No surprise though with a roof thats wood! Anyway they are coming today to put the big tent on. So we'll be out for a few days at my mom's. I never did like the way those tents look on a home. Don't know but for some reason when I drive by and see one I think yuck what a dirty bug infested house! I don't think she's quite ready, or really that I'm ready but it had to be done ( we gave away our extra crib which needed the side rails from hers) Anyway when we first took her to her "new" room she freaked out. She started screaming and doing this thing with her hands, it was like she kept pulling on her fingers with the opposite hand. Anyway we call this little gesture washing her hands clean of us. So yeah you can imagine that the first night in the new bed created a lot of stress for me. She feel asleep without much trouble, but was up at midnight. Not to worry she still gets up at night so I thought "normal behavior" But when it was 1:30 and she was up I began to worry. Let's just say she spent 1/2 the night in her bed and the other 1/2 well, in ours! Oh well. I'm already sleep deprived! How cute is she though!

Yeah you can say I'm a big dork, people were staring!

You get to walk onto (or even lay) a baseball field! Especially the best team ever! And certainly not everyday that you get to meet the players and get a photo with Nomar Garciaparra! We had so much fun yesterday and took the win 4-3 against St. Louis. Go Dodgers!

It seems to me lately that being "Green" is becoming ever so increasingly popular these days. And it's no wonder why with all that's happening around the globe and with so many environmental issues at hand. People are finally realizing "hey it's time to start doing something!" I'll admit that I'm not the "greenest" person I know, but even I have been trying harder to conserve, and I even like buying those cute re useable bags at the store. So it got me thinking, "Which cities are the greenest?" You might be surprised to know that out of the 50 Greenest cities in the U.S, Riverside placed #28 and San Bernardino #47. I don't know about you, but that makes me want to try a little harder. Since I now know that even though it doesn't seem like it, our little efforts are working. Cute baby shower

Yesterday we had my brother and sis-in-laws baby shower at my house. My mom, sis and I threw it and it really turned out cute! They came down from Oregon and we had all the family over. Here are a few pics of what we made. It was a circus theme.

Well at least it looks that way! ;-) But really they always play together and Logan makes Brooklyn laugh so much. He's usually so sweet with her. I can't imagine them without each other!

My little boy is getting so big. Logan turned 4 on Sunday May 11th. We had a birthday party for him Saturday at Jumping Jacks. It was so much fun. This was the first birthday that he was really understanding the whole experience. He loved all his gifts and was so happy his friends came to celebrate. Thanks to all of you who helped make his day special!

I made my first baby blanket yesterday! I'm so proud. Rick's mom walked me through it, but I did all of the work! I can't wait to get my sewing machine now. I'm hoping to make plenty to sell at Letti's boutique in November. This one was made specially for my brother and sis-in-law, who are expecting a boy in September. The best part is picking out all the fabrics and creating the style. It's my pride and joy hee hee
